Something That Irritates Me

Ok..so there really is a whole list...but..I really get irritated at those twisty ties that holds the plastic together on a loaf of bread. Can't stand them. Now I consider myself to be *semi* intelligent, but for some reason, I end up hovering around the low end of the IQ scale when it comes to those. WHY are they so hard to untwist? Is it just me? I mean this morning I swear, the *#*&@&@ thing wouldn't come off. I twisted one way..wasn't the right direction. So logically, I go for the other direction..that didn't seem to work either because the stupid thing got twisted up around itself. I finally just got the scissors out and cut the dang thing. That's right. I showed WHO is boss. Victory is so sweet...

Five Questions From Shawnee

Shawnee (http://utterlybrilliantthoughts.blogspot.com/) posted five questions she received from another blogger and requested we request questions from her..so here are her questions to me and my answers!

  • Name five "luxury items" that you could not live without. (i.e., not necessities such as food, water, air, cocktails or George Clooney. Although that last one may just be me.)
Pedicures, eyebrow waxing and shaping, massages, valet parking and Gucci bags.
  • What are you five favorite non-blog websites?
    www.southwest.com (shameless plug for my company of course!); www.weather.com; www.ttu.edu; www.unlv.edu; www.craigslist.com
  • Martinis, mimosas, margaritas, mojitos . . . so many cocktails, so little time! What's your favorite drink right now?
Oh dear..ok well, here is where the *going to school in west Texas* comes out in me... Coors Light. That's right..beer. I love beer. AND...I don't drink it outta no sissy glass either...straight up baby, straight up! (hic!)
  • What's the best thing about living in Texas? Have you ever lived anywhere but there?
Well, the weather is great here! Changes on a dime and we have some seriously cool thunderstorms. Also, you can go to the mountains, desert, plains and beach..all in one state! Nope...only lived in Texas...ssssaaallluuuttteee!
  • I know you like to travel - what's your favorite place to visit? Where would you like to go next?
We're actually heading to New York City next month..I've never been! I am SO excited. I'm also jonesin' for a trip back to Italy. Of course, anyplace with a beach always is top of the list too.

Ok folks...if you wanna play...leave me a comment and/or email me (kimscott333@aol.com) and let me know and I'll give YOU 5 questions to answer on your blog!

What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up

Are any of us really, really happy with our jobs? Ok..those of you who are..sit down and be quiet! :) I love my company. I really do. It is the job that just doesn't do it for me. I did not go to school to be an IT person. In fact, my bachelor and master's degrees are in hotel and restaurant management. But here I am, a computer geek. Unfortunately, I don't see myself getting out of this industry because of the pay. That's right...the *golden handcuffs*. That is the phenomena when say a person makes $$$$K a year in their job, but the job they really want only pays $$K a year. You see what I mean? Sucks... I don't hate what I do, it just ain't the real Kimmy. Oh well..one day I'll grow up to be that meteorological aircraft accident investigating instructing retirement community home manager that I really wanna be, right?!

Semi-Tagged by Teacher Lady

I love Teacher Lady's blog (http://sexedhighered.blogspot.com/). I swear she's my lost twin who is battling teaching college students while working on her Ph.D. and questioning both. Teacher Lady's last blog offered a tag for her readers to do the following - List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what they are. They must be songs you are presently enjoying. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
So..here goes..and I have to say..some of these I'm not necessarily *into* but the damn things are looping in my brain as of late and dammit..they won't go away!!!

1. 'Fergalicious' - uh YES...stupid, stupid song, but stuck in head.
2. 'Cut You Up' - Peter Murphy
3. 'Too Shy' - Kajagoogoo
4. 'Its Not Over' - Daughtry
5. 'Everywhere I Go' - No Clue who sings it..it is the tune on the Geico caveman commercials
6. 'Before He Cheats' - Carrie Underwood
7. ' The Great Commandment' - Camouflage

I know..totally all over the board. Scary huh? Oh well..it is variety!
Ok..so who to tag - Irb, Shawnee, Kathy, SJ...that's a start...get 'em!

Brake Rider

They make me crazy. The person who is constantly riding on thier brakes. Some of these people amaze me. Exactly HOW do they drive while pushing the brake at the same time. I don't mean tapping, I mean riding it, yet the car is still moving forward. I got behind one of these jackasses this morning and I swear he/she made me put on my own brakes as if I were a brake rider.

I think I must be pmsing..again. Bring on the chocolate martinis...in buckets.

The Loop Brain Phenomenon

You know what that is..when you get a stupid song or saying stuck in your head and it keeps repeating over and over and over. Well, I have been experiencing that A LOT lately. I think I am the queen of loop brain. Today, it is Carrie Underwood's 'Before He Cheats' stuck in my head. Not a bad song...until I hear it over and over in my head. Now I'm sick of it. A lot of the time I can ignore loop brain..tune it out if you will. However, when I'm trying to say my prayers at night and Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' is playing in my cranial background...something just doesn't seem right about that. I hope God understands that I can't turn it off. The power button on my brain MP3 is broken. Oh great, now it is 'Mr. Sandman'...shoot me please.

The Eternal Quest for Knowledge

Why do I have this deep need to complete my Ph.D.? Why must I reach the goal of 'Doctor Kim'? As I am sitting here perusing over a paper I just wrote, I am thinking to myself..I am going to have to write this times a 1000 when I get to my dissertation. Why, why, why... I originally wanted to get my Ph.D. to teach at the collegiate level. Well, I have achieved that goal already (the teaching part). I dunno..I am sure this is all very boring to my friends reading this post. Hell, it is about to put me to sleep. Let's discuss something else.

St. Patrick's Day. Also known as The Day to Get Smithering Drunk and Bar Hop to Your Heart's Content. Uh huh, that's right people..that's how we do it here in Big D. We first start off in the morning with a parade down Greenville Avenue. Once the parade starts, generally that is everyone's *go* signal to start pouring the Mimosas and Bloody Marys. Once the parade is over, the city shuts down Greenville to motor traffic and allows folks to go from bar to bar, drinking, socializing outside with as many open containers as one can hold. It is just like being back in college. Hey..which somewhat relates to the first paragraph in this blog! Sweet.....

Anyway...it is Friday. My brain is fried and this is about all I can think about writing for today Dear Bloggers. Oh.. I did get a new car on Wednesday. Got a Volvo S60. I always thought of Volvos as soccer mom cars. Not so much anymore. This sucker is fast and I love it!

Tagged by Irb!

I've been tagged by Irb (http://irbslice.blogspot.com/) (look...I can't make the hyperlinks work on this piece of crap!) to list 5 little known things about myself...so here goes...

1. I am an only child.
2. I can drink a lot of beer, but one glass of wine sends me over the edge (I went to school in West Texas, ok??).
3. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 30 because I was scared. This really wouldn't be weird, except I am a diabetic and I give 6 insulin injections per day. Can shoot up, but fearful of holes in my ears. Yeah..I know...
4. I am actually very shy. Hard to tell on a blog, and actually, hard to tell in person..but I am. Irby would probably argue against that.
5. I don't regret not having kids...ever... Kids are ok, I just never had the desire to have 'em.

PMS Sucks

What is it about that time right before grandma comes to visit, that we women lose all control of logic and reasoning? Why do we go through this? And why must my ankles decide to swell up like stuffed sausages by the end of the day (bloating..fun for all)? I hate it. Actually, right now, I hate just about everything. And of course, I come in and have a (#*@&*@&*#(* meeting scheduled until 5:30 (I usually leave at 4 to avoid massive Dallas traffic). Why do we have to go through this time where sure, we know we're being unreasonable, irritable, crabby bitches, yet we proceed to be this way regardless? It just sucks and makes for a VERY long day. You men have NO idea how lucky you are. Right now I just wanna bitchslap someone for no reason. Sure..I know it isn't right, but hell..I wanna do it anyway. I think I'll go run over my uterus now.

Signed,
KimmyBitcholaFesteringQueen

Back When Music Was Good!!

It's at times like this, the great Heaven knows, that we wish we had, not so many clothes....

Ahhh the words of the great Adam Ant. I miss 80s music. It was so much better back then. I have found a stash of great tunes on one of our servers here at work and have been cranking them out in my headphones all day. TONS of 80s music..and the good stuff, not crap like Herbie Hancock (I apologize to those fans of Herbie). Ultravox, REM, The Fixx, Duran Duran...ahhh the good ole days...

Friday's Feast #131

Feast One Hundred & Thirty One
Appetizer
What sound, other than the normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make?
None..I hate the phone. I know, so not your typical female. Trust me, if you were EVER a receptionist in a retirement home, you'd hate the phone too.
Soup
Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc.).
Partly Cloudy, High Humidity
Salad
What specific subject do you feel you know better than any other subjects?
Like a school subject? Hmm...I guess Hospitality since that was my major and it is what I teach. In general, I feel I am pretty knowledgeable about airplanes and flying oh and weather. I'm a closet meteorologist..LOVE the Weather Channel. It is MTV for old people.
Main Course
Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/magazines/newspapers would you choose to read?
Oh dear..since I don't like to read, and the extent of my reading is either textbooks for school or People Magazine..well....I'm going with People Magazine.
Dessert
If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection, what would it be like and what would you name it?
Well, my dear friend Staci calls me Kimmy Rimmy Roco Ruff (yes, usually after much alcohol consumption), I'm thinking something chocolatey with crunchy things in it. Call it Kimmy's Roco!

Six Weird Things About Me

* When I eat at a cafeteria (Luby's), I eat my salad last.
* Every toilet lid in my house must be down. If I see a toilet lid up (this is often since the love of my life and my husband, Scott, doesn't quite get this), I must close it immediately. I think my mother instilled this weirdism in me.
* I have the ability (skill?) to spend down to the very last penny when I have cash.
* I love doing math...especially without a calculator. This could be because my mother was a math teacher and my daddy a nuclear physicist.
* I'm an education snob. Is that weird or bitchy..or both????
* I love driving a stick shift.

Kids Today Do WHAT?

I'm starting to sound like my grandparents, but I am truly amazed at the, well, stupidity of kids today. I hear the word on the street is the latest rages are *pharm* and *rainbow* parties. Have y'all heard of these? Lemme give you the 411 in case you haven't.

Pharm Party - Kids raid their parent's medicine cabinets and take whatever they can find to these parties. All of the pills are combined in one nice big bowl..like a punch bowl..how quaint..and then the partygoers take a handfull and swallow them down! Yep..not knowing what the (@*#* they are taking. Brilliant! What idiots. I mean seriously, what on EARTH possesses them to want to do that?? Whatever happened to just raiding your parent's wine or liquor stash?? Are booze not enough anymore??

Rainbow Party - The female partygoers don (or is it dawn?) various shades of lipstick. They then proceed to go to each guy in the room and, well, put their lipstick on the guy's dipstick. By the end of the night, the guys all have a lovely rainbow of lipstick on their members. Beautiful!!!!!! It is nice to know today's young ladies (cough) have enough pride and self-respect to participate in these events. Makes me proud...not.

What I Hate

You know what I hate? (I'm stealing from Vicki) Late afternoon meetings. Hate them. I come in early so I can leave early and avoid as much traffic as possible. My drive home is an hour without traffic..so...if I leave after 4pm, I'm screwed and devoted to at least 1 1/2 hours in the car...at least. So I get in today and boom..meeting from 3:30 to 5:00. Now..by that time, the old diabetes is taking effect on my body anyway and my attention span is, well, very short. Uh...can I just tell you HOW much I am dreading this??

As they said in the greatest movie ever, Airplane, 'I picked the wrong week to stop drinking'.
